It’s a grant award for family spaces downtown Charlie Brown! In August, we awarded $100,000 to Main Street Square to ensure that this space remains accessible for Rapid City families.
“By supporting Main Street Square, a space where families of all backgrounds can come together, we’re fostering a sense of belonging and strengthening the social fabric of our community,” shared Alan Solano, President and CEO of the John T. Vucurevich Foundation.

About the Grant
Main Street Square works to bring life to Downtown Rapid City through economic development while creating a vibrant gathering space that is rich in appeal, cultural heritage, arts and entertainment for everyone, regardless of age, sex, race or economic background. Main Street Square opened in the fall of 2011 with the intent of being an inclusive gathering place that enhanced the quality of life for the Rapid City community. In it’s 14 years, it’s been visited millions of times and is the most visited park in Rapid City. Main Street Square has programming 12 months of the year that range from free interactive fountains in the summer to ice skating in the winter and a variety of events and festivals throughout the year.
The grant will provide funding for the general operations of Main Street Square, including the free interactive fountains, operating the outdoor ice rink during winter and hosting events at little to no cost for the greater Rapid City community.
